Notes
Windfury Totem will buff the main-hand weapon only. The off-hand of dual-wielders will not benefit. It will not replace other temporary enhancements like Sharpening Stones, Wizard Oil, Poisons, or the shaman's own weapon enhancements like Flametongue Weapon. The totem is mutually exclusive with all other Air totems, particularly with Grace of Air Totem. Also, the totem acts in the same manner as Sword Specialization: It will ONLY trigger on white (auto-attack) swings, and cannot trigger off itself.
The Windfury proc from the totem does not have a hidden cooldown like Windfury Weapon
Talent improvement
Shamans can increase the range of their totems to 30 yards with Totemic Mastery. The casting cost can be reduced with Totemic Focus, and the effect of Windfury Totem can be increased with Improved Weapon Totems.
Tips and tactics
Despite its limitations, Windfury totem is the most powerful totem buff available for warriors and rogues. If there are 3 or more players who can benefit from Windfury Totem in a group, such as 3 Rogues, 3 Warriors, or any combination thereof, Windfury Totem is preferable to Grace of Air Totem.
Theoretically, it is possible to set up a totem rotation which will result in group members benefiting from both Grace of Air and Windfury totems. When a totem is cast, group members receive a 9-second buff from the totem's effect. If a shaman casts both totems alternating in a 9-second cycle, the group will in effect have both buffs. This is not a "bug" necessarily, and not bannable either. This was confirmed by Eyonix [1]. It is likely though that it will be removed at some future date.
Often abbreviated "WF".
